Dog Training Tips - Equipment Needed

Whether you just brought home a new puppy, adopted an adult dog from the animal shelter, or your brushing up on some basic K9 training with a dog you already have, you are going to need the right training equipment.

The first thing you need isn't necessarily equipment, but is patience.

It will take a lot of patience on your part to carry out puppy training and positive dog training. You will also need to be armed with the best training advice you can get.

You can obtain K9 dog training advice from a professional dog trainer, reading puppy dog training books, or watching positive dog training videos.

You can choose to do the training on your own with your own training equipment or you can enroll your dog in training classes where you will also learn what types of dog training equipment is needed. It is important not to start your training too early.

Spend your time socializing your dog first before getting into the obedience training.

A young dog should not start their training until they are around 6-8 months. This also depends upon their mental stability.

Some basic training equipment needed include a properly fitted collar, a leash, a crate that is the appropriate size for your puppy, and a ball.

When I refer to a properly fitted collar I am referring to a chain collar which is normally used during training sessions.

This collar should be the size of the dogs neck plus 2 inches. You don't need much equipment when you are doing puppy training or positive dog training.

These basic things will go a long way in your K9 training adventure.

The most important piece of dog training advice you can receive is to be patient. If you are patient your pet will sense this and be more receptive to your training commands.

The dog training equipment needed can be purchased at a pet store, online, and at just about any major retail store. The equipment doesn't have to be the most expensive either. It is up to you and your preferences.

Some people want their dog to be just as stylish as they are and will opt for the rhinestone collar and bejeweled leash. These things aren't necessary,

a basic sturdy collar and sturdy leash will do, but, it's your dog and your money and you can do as you please! Just make sure that the training equipment needed is sturdy and safe for use with your dog before using it.

use with your dog before using it.
